Uffington Signal Box.2 viewsUffington Signal Box is on the line from Leicester to Peterborough, and the structure was built by the Midland Railway in 1909. The box controls the hand operated gates over the Uffington Road. In rural surroundings, there was once a station here, Uffington & Barnack, which closed to passengers in 1952. 11th June 2011.

GM Pacer 142009 at Manchester Victoria.3 viewsLate afternoon sunlight shines through the old Manchester Victoria, on the 3rd February 1990. Still wearing its original Greater Manchester PTE Orange & Brown livery, 142009 was stabled where in years gone by, the Wallside pilot engines stood in position to bank Eastbound trains up the incline to Miles Platting. Victoria Station still showed the scars following a visit from the German Luftwaffe in December 1940, when much of the overall roof on the through platforms was destroyed, never to be replaced.

Class 504 M77177 at Bury Electric Depot.2 viewsThere were no Sunday services on the Bury-Manchester line, and the Class 504 fleet was stabled for the day at Bury Electric Depot. On May 15th 1979, Driving Trailers M77177 along with M77181 & M77181 whiled away a Sunday afternoon in the yard at Bury Electric Depot. There is a light covering of rust on the running rails. The signals on the left of this scene were at Baron Street and controlled the approach to the station at Bury Bolton Street.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
