Leyland Motors Sidings Farington.
Running parallel to the WCML at Farington, just south of Leyland are the sidings of the former Leyland Motors Farington Factory. On the 1st May 1982, along with the resident Fowler diesel shunter, was BR mark 1 coach M21234. The coach was awaiting movement to the British Leyland factory at Workington, for rebodying with a modified Leyland National bus type body. The coach became RDB977091, and was a possible replacement for ageing loco hauled stock. It was not a success, and the project was not followed up.
