150148 at Farington Curve Junction.0 viewsThe Grand National Race Meeting, held at Aintree Racecourse, saw the Preston to Ormskirk Services strengthed by class 150, in lieu of the normal class 153 single unit. 150148 has just joined the branch at Farington Curve Junction, with the 08.41 Preston to Ormskirk on Saturday 9th April 2011.

Class 503, M29150M at Birkenhead North.10 viewsClass 503 driving trailer M29150M, brings up the rear of a Liverpool Central to West Kirby service as it calls at Birkenhead North in April 1984. The trailer is one of the post war build constructed by BRCW in 1956. In 1983, the 1956 built examples were briefly considered as possible replacements for the life expired ex underground stock used on the Isle of Wight. A gauging run using a template attached to an IOW unit was a failure, as it hit one bridge and had to be adjusted to get under another.

150001 departs from Henley-In-Arden.0 views150001 gets underway from Henley-In-Arden with the 14.27 Stratford-Upon-Avon to Stourbridge Junction service on the 17th September 2011. The station still retains its GWR style running-in nameboards and the remains of its once proud platform gardens. 150001 was one of the two prototype 3-Car Class 150s, built in 1984 and demonstrated around the UK.

Oldham Mumps.1 viewsThe new temporary facilities opened in 2012 at Oldham Mumps play host to M5000 3044 as it calls en-route from Rochdale to St Werburgh's Road at 16:15 on March 24th 2013. This section of the Metrolink still runs on the formation of the Oldham Loop closed in October 2009 and will be closed when the street running section through Oldham town centre is completed in 2014.

A4, 4468-'Mallard' at Shildon.0 viewsThe much cherished A4, 4468-'Mallard' on display outside the NRM at Shildon as part of 'The Great Goodbye' event on February 16th 2014. It was good to see the loco in the daylight, along with the other five surviving A4s. Although the event was well organised, some of the locos had cab access steps placed alongside.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
