With containerisation much of the traditional dock traffic has disappeared, along with the single track rail link that connected the Western docks to the Eastern docks, a small portion of which survives embedded in a concrete access apron, seen on June 27th 2014.

The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch.
