The Deltic Scotsman Farewell -York - 2/1/82.3 katseluaHistory in the making at York on the 2nd January 1982. In poor weather conditions, 55015 -'Tulyar' brings the final BR Deltic hauled Northbound passenger train, 'The Deltic Scotsman Farewell' into York on the 2nd January 1982. The train was an out and back from Kings Cross to Edinburgh, ensuring that after 20 years as Kings of the ECML, these locomotives bowed out in style. It was only fitting for me to come here, as it was at York many years previously that a saw my first Deltic.

Class 306 EMUs at Leicester (GC).2 katseluaDating from 1949, former Liverpool St-Shenfield Class 306 EMUs, 055, 033, 083 & 078 wait at the entrance to Vic Berrys Scrapyard at Leicester on July 19th 1982. The location is adjacent to the former Great Central Main Line, that last saw a passenger train in 1969 when the DMU service between Rugby and Nottingham was withdrawn. Upperton Road bridge that once spanned the extensive trackwork at this location, was demolished in 2007 - yet another bit of the infrastructure of the old GC Main Line lost forever.13.02.2015
