Class 03, 03179 at Ipswich.Просмотров: 6Complete with a runner truck, Class 03, 03179 stands between duties in Ipswich Yard on the 28th April 1980. Anonymous amongst the class 03 fleet at the time, fame was to come when it was transferred to the Isle of Wight in 1988. 03179 was painted in Network South East Livery at Ryde in 1989. The loco became surplus to requirements in 1996, and was shipped back to the mainland for use at Hornsey Depot in North London. Now the only operational class 03 on the former national network, it is in FCC livery.

Class 110 Calder Valley DMU E52081 at Manchester Victoria.Просмотров: 1A once familiar sight of a well-worn first generation DMU stood at an equally well-worn Manchester Victoria, on September 28th 1979. A BRCW Class 110 3-car DMU with DMCL E52081, complete with its first class saloon, was bringing up the rear of a tea-time service to Leeds via Halifax and Bradford. 37130 at Bamber Bridge.Просмотров: 1In time-honoured fashion, Class 37 37130 digs in as it approaches Bamber Bridge with the Summer only Blackpool North to Sheffield working on May 29th 1982. This service had run out and back for many years and brought the welcome sight of an Eastern Region 37 or if you were lucky a 31, to the Lancashire Coast. 1982 was the last year of loco-haulage, in 1983 the service went over to DMU operation. The service did not operate in 1984, bringing to an end another chapter in BR Summer holiday traffic.

Class 306 EMUs at Leicester (GC).Просмотров: 2Dating from 1949, former Liverpool St-Shenfield Class 306 EMUs, 055, 033, 083 & 078 wait at the entrance to Vic Berrys Scrapyard at Leicester on July 19th 1982. The location is adjacent to the former Great Central Main Line, that last saw a passenger train in 1969 when the DMU service between Rugby and Nottingham was withdrawn. Upperton Road bridge that once spanned the extensive trackwork at this location, was demolished in 2007 - yet another bit of the infrastructure of the old GC Main Line lost forever.Фев 13, 2015
