Class 24, 24066 at Doncaster Works.Просмотров: 6Previously allocated to Edinburgh Haymarket Depot, Class 24, 24066 had been withdrawn from service in February 1976 and was at Doncaster Works for scrapping in June 1978. Final disposal of the former D5066, which was vacuum braked only, came in September 1978. The image taken at the works open day, clearly illustrates the perils of photography at such occasions!

Class 108 M52051 at Bescar LaneПросмотров: 5In rural West Lancashire, A Class 108 2-Car DMU formed of M52051 & M51936 arrives at Bescar Lane whilst working a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on April 9th 1983. The station here was in a time warp, with an ex LYR Signalbox, timber level crossing gates, semaphore signals and station buildings that had British Rail posters from 1971 announcing the change to decimal currency, and on one board the tattered remains of an LMS poster!

Class 123 DMU E52100 at Longsight Depot.Просмотров: 3A former Western Region Swindon built 'Inter-City' DMU was sharing the sidings at Longsight Depot on August 31st 1980 with a magnificent selection of BR first-generation DMU sets. Alongside E52100 are Class 104s, 108s and on the extreme left is a Gloucester RC&W Class 100. There were 10 of these 4-Car Class 123s built at Swindon Works in 1963 and they were the last of the BR first-generation DMUs. None of these stylish units have survived.

Class 25 25052 at St Blazey Depot.Просмотров: 3In deepest Cornwall, A tired looking Class 25, 25052 keeps company with various Departmental Wagons and a Single Unit Railcar (W55026/P126) at St Blazey Depot on an overcast 27th July 1980. It was the transfer of Class 25s from the London Midland Region in the early 1970s that brought an end to the short careers of the small Western Region Diesel Hydraulics, (NBL Class 22s & Hymeks). 25052 emerged new from Derby as D5202 in 1963 and had been a LMR allocated loco until transferred to Bristol in January 1972.

Class 306 EMUs at Leicester (GC).Просмотров: 2Dating from 1949, former Liverpool St-Shenfield Class 306 EMUs, 055, 033, 083 & 078 wait at the entrance to Vic Berrys Scrapyard at Leicester on July 19th 1982. The location is adjacent to the former Great Central Main Line, that last saw a passenger train in 1969 when the DMU service between Rugby and Nottingham was withdrawn. Upperton Road bridge that once spanned the extensive trackwork at this location, was demolished in 2007 - yet another bit of the infrastructure of the old GC Main Line lost forever.Фев 13, 2015
