142054 at Harrowside.skoðað 0 sinnumHaving got underway with 13.44 Blackpool South to Colne service, 142054 has just called at the Pleasure Beach Station and is passing Milepost 19 at Harrowside. The line is one single track from Kirkham North Junction to Blackpool South, a far cry from the days when this double track route was busy with excursion and residential traffic along the coast.

The station here is adjacent to the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, one of the venues used for the Open Golf Championship. The station here had an island platform with an L&Y iron & glass canopy, and loop lines around the platform tracks. All now gone, except for a long empty platform...........

Skipper 142024 arrives at Rufford.skoðað 1 sinnumIn the fading light of an Autumn day, with the Tarleton Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in the foreground, former West of England 'Skipper' Class 142, 142024 arrives at Rufford on November 5th 1988. This was the last day of operation of the mechanical signalling at Rufford, a home signal is visible to the rear of the unit. This tranquil scene has now been transformed with the construction of boat marinas on both sides of the canal.

The former crossing keepers cottage on this former double track main line is on the right of this view.

Class 101 E54076 at Pages Crossing, Ulnes Walton.skoðað 1 sinnumHaving worked over the Pennines from Leeds to Preston, an Eastern Region 2-Car Class 101 with West Yorkshire Metrotrain branding was used on a fill-in turn from Preston to Ormskirk at tea-time on May 29th 1985. This was a Monday-Friday routine, that saw three different DMU sets working to Ormskirk in the early evening, the services crossing in the loop at Rufford. Having worked to Ormskirk E54076/E 53136 pass over Pages Crossing returning to Preston on the approach to Midge Hall.

Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!10. des, 2015
